With their first new album in nearly two decades, alt-metal shape-shifters Faith No More proved they hadn’t lost a musical step — or their sense of humor. Sol Invictus will probably always be associated with lead single “Motherfucker” — which sees vocal contortionist Mike Patton uttering the eternal phrase, “Get the motherfucker on the phone” — but that’s just one of many highlights. The metallic cheerleader-isms of “Superhero,” spaghetti western twang of “Cone Of Shame” and manic piano ballad “Sunny Side Up” are also unmissable. J. BENNETT
